Danfoss is proud to announce that its VLT® drives are now compliant with Security Level 1 (SL1) standards, reinforcing our commitment to cybersecurity in critical infrastructure. This compliance ensures that our variable frequency drives (VFDs) meet the rigorous cybersecurity requirements set by the European Union.
Danfoss VLT® drives are equipped with advanced firmware to enable SL1, certified according to IEC 62443-4-2. This certification guarantees a secure balance between risk reduction and usability for commissioning and service situations.
Additionally, Danfoss’ product development and manufacturing processes are certified according to IEC 62443-4-1, ensuring that our drives are developed and built through secure and rigorous processes. Manufactured in Danfoss-owned factories, our products adhere to the highest security standards, protecting against unauthorized access and manipulation.

Our cybersecure access strategy enhances operational security by allowing advanced roles and access levels, ensuring that only authorized personnel can manage and modify drive operations. Secure configuration can be set up via the local control panel while the VLT® Motion Control Tool MCT 10 software further facilitates secure configuration and management, enhancing operational efficiency with confidence in cybersecurity.
As a member of the Charter of Trust alliance, Danfoss joins global leaders in promoting the highest standards of cybersecurity, working towards a safer digital future.
Drives compliant with SL1:
About TÜV-certified cybersecurity
Compliance with IEC 62443-4-1 and IEC 62443-4-2 has been independently certified by TÜV at Security Level 1 (SL1).
This certification provides customers with a unique and comprehensive cybersecurity foundation:
- Secure by design and by process
IEC 62443-4-1 compliance ensures a certified secure development lifecycle, while IEC 62443-4-2 compliance confirms that the product itself implements defined technical security controls - Reduced cybersecurity risk over the product lifetime
Combining secure development practices with certified product capabilities helps minimize vulnerabilities and supports long-term maintainability and patch management - Independent third-party assurance
TÜV certification delivers trusted, objective verification, simplifying supplier qualification and supporting regulatory and customer audits - Support for regulatory compliance
Alignment with IEC 62443-4-1 and IEC 62443-4-2 supports current and upcoming cybersecurity requirements, including obligations under the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) - With this dual certification, Danfoss Drives products provide a robust and future-ready cybersecurity platform for connected industrial applications
