To reduce air-polluting sulphur emissions, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) introduced a global limit on sulphur content of marine fuels from 1 January 2020. Known as the Global Sulphur Cap 2020, this regulation limits sulphur levels to 0.50% m/m worldwide, with even stricter 0.10% m/m requirements in Emission Control Areas (SECAs).
To meet the Global Sulphur Cap 2020, vessels must document that their exhaust gas cleaning systems – also known as scrubbers - effectively reduce sulphur emissions. The MES 1002 is designed to make compliance simple, reliable, and cost-efficient.
The MES 1002 SO₂/CO₂ CEMS provides accurate, real-time emissions data to verify scrubber performance and ensure compliance with MARPOL regulation.
Its compact, in situ design simplifies scrubber compliance, enhances operational efficiency and reduces maintenance costs – turning MARPOL compliance a seamless part of daily vessel operations.
Designed for crew-friendly operations, the MES 1002 enables onboard vessel crew to carry out routine maintenance themselves, eliminating costly external technician visits. This reduces total cost of ownership without compromising accuracy, reliability, or compliance performance.
