NORDBORG, DENMARK — Danfoss Power Solutions today announced the launch of its CVG 8 Spool Valve in Europe and Asia Pacific. The latest addition to the Danfoss spool valve portfolio, CVG 8 is a pre-compensated load-sensing hydraulic valve for low-flow mobile machinery, attachments, and implements. The CVG 8 valve features a compact, modular platform concept that supports scalability across applications, enabling greater flexibility in machine design. The valve’s regional launch follows its successful introduction in China.
CVG 8 valves are built using the same modular design concept as Danfoss PVG valves, enabling machine designers to customize a solution for every application. Valves are specified by selecting from inlet modules, basic modules, end plates, interface plates, spools, actuators, and more. The CVG 8 platform incorporates a wide range of PVG-inspired features, offering designers familiarity as well as flexibility to optimize the valve solution to the machine, rather than adapting the machine to a fixed valve design.
CVG 8 sections can be stacked together with PVG sections, as well as cartridge valves in a hydraulic integrated circuit (HIC), delivering the right flow and performance for each function. The scalable nature of the CVG platform enables easier configuration both within and across machine applications.
As the most compact spool valve in the Danfoss portfolio, CVG 8 is ideal for space-constrained, low-flow applications. The CVB8 basic module is 30% smaller in size than the PVB16 basic module, reducing the valve’s space claim and delivering greater flexibility in machine layout. CVG 8 features new compact load-sense relief valves to maximize space efficiency. CVG 8 is also lower in weight, with a typical three-section valve weighing in at 12% less than a typical three-section PVG 16 valve.
“Our new CVG 8 valve is compact by design and built to scale. Its modular load-sensing performance is fully compatible with Danfoss PVG and HIC solutions, offering freedom in design and a control platform that is ready to grow as machines evolve. With its adaptability to different applications, CVG 8 creates a smoother path from one machine requirement to the next,” said Jonas Lauersen, Global Product Portfolio Manager, Danfoss Power Solutions.
The Danfoss CVG 8 valve offers open-loop spool position control with analog current control; CAN bus control is possible with the Danfoss CAN 2 Current (C2C) microcontroller. A maximum of eight work sections are permitted per valve, and manual override options are available. The valve’s rated maximum work port flow is 40 liters per minute, with a rated maximum pressure of 350 bar.
CVG 8 valves are ideal for a variety of applications, including aerial work platforms, small cranes, reach mowers, automated guided vehicles, and attachments and implements such as balers, sprayers, mowers, harvesters, and feeder mixers.
