A significant software and hardware release for the iC7-Automation VFD solves key customer challenges with updates focused on safety, uptime, and power density.
Enhanced safety with integrated ATEX option
A new built-in ATEX option allows the frequency converter to safely control motors (Ex d) in hazardous zones without external devices. This simplifies installation, reduces paperwork, and lowers costs by integrating the thermal monitoring function directly into the drive.
Maximum uptime with PROFINET S2 redundancy
For process-critical industries, newly supported PROFINET S2 system redundancy for frequency converters ensures continuous operation without extra hardware, maximizing uptime by maintaining control even if a communication path fails.
Expanded power for system modules and enclosed drives
The improvements include significant power extensions:
- New 690 V AFE and inverter modules (up to 4500 kW) deliver high efficiency, regeneration, and low harmonics
- New 500 V and 690 V high-power NFE drives (430-3800 kW and up to 6000 kW DC) offer a compact, cost-effective solution for non-regenerative systems
- Enclosed Drive power extensions add new 6-pulse, LHD, and regenerative drives up to 1600 kW
Seamless integration and smarter control for system modules
Integration is now easier with expanded fieldbus support for EtherCAT and Modbus RTU. Onboard control is also enhanced with more powerful logic blocks, increasing flexibility and reducing the need for external programming.
Simplified maintenance with programmable spare units
Field-programmable service and control units (iC7 Programmable Service Units and Control Units) reduce inventory costs and shorten downtime. A single unit can be quickly configured on-site for various drive types using an SD card, enabling faster maintenance
This update reinforces the iC7-Automation VFD as a future-proof VFD that helps keep your industrial operations more competitive.
