The challenge
Sofrilog aimed to expand the cold room and freezing capacity of their ammonia-based refrigeration system at a nearby brioche factory. The goal was clear, to increase capacity while keeping the ammonia charge below 1.5 tons, minimizing costs and maintaining performance.
The solution
Sofrilog partnered with Danfoss to retrofit their system with NeoCharge injection control. This involved upgrading five air coolers and four freezing tunnels with ICM20B electronic valves and EKE450 controllers. The result is a system with reduced recirculation and optimized charge control, enabling expansion without additional ammonia.
The result
With NeoCharge, Sofrilog can add an extra freezer with the same capacity, using saved ammonia to expand the system. The system delivers optimized performance with a continuous control of circulation rate improved cooling efficiency, with air temperature reduced by approximately 1°C. Lower cold room temperatures overnight reduce electricity costs, maximizing energy efficiency.
