PVMX Axial Piston Pump

PVMX Axial Piston Pump

The next generation of Vickers piston pumps is here!

Setting new benchmarks for industrial hydraulic efficiency, performance and features.

Extra speed, extra pressure, extra quiet

Introducing the most advanced Vickers® by Danfoss medium-pressure axial piston pump, engineered to deliver a new level of efficiency, performance, and system flexibility. Designed to meet the evolving needs of industrial machinery, the new PVMX pump offers substantial advancements over previous model series and competitive products.

Initially available in a 28-cc displacement, the PVMX axial piston pump marks a major leap forward in hydraulic system design, combining high dynamic performance, low energy consumption, and a smart control architecture.

Extra pressure: The ability to consistently operate at high pressure (up to 350 bar (5,000psi) and maximum pressure up to 420 bar (6,000psi) enables powerful force and torque, from relatively small actuators (cylinders and motors), essential for tasks such as lifting heavy loads, clamping, pressing and forming materials.

Extra speed (up to 3800 rpm): Operating at high speeds increases machine productivity and allows the same flow as a larger pump at a lower speed, contributing to a more compact and cost-effective system.

Extra quiet (72dBA @280bar/3000rpm): The pump's low noise level enhances workplace safety and comfort, while also making it easier to comply with noise regulations and reduce extra soundproofing costs.

Two-Quadrant Capability: This enables the pump to also act as a motor, allowing it to recover and reuse energy from the load, which significantly improves overall system efficiency.

Optimized for Variable Speed Systems: The pump can precisely match its power output to the immediate demand of the application, drastically reducing energy usage (up to 70% compared to fixed speed systems) and lowering operating costs.

Excellent Low-Speed Performance (350 bar @ 200 rpm): Maintaining full pressure at very low speeds provides superior precision for tasks requiring slow, controlled movements and stable load-holding.

Over-center functionality enables Pressure Reduction Mode: This allows the pump's flow direction to be reversed without reversing the motor’s rotation. This eliminates the need for a bidirectional electric motor, simplifying system design and reducing cost—while still enabling fast, low-resistance actuator retraction.

Xtra pressure - Xtra speed - Xtra quiet - The next generation PVMX

The new PVMX axial piston variable displacement pump delivers unparalleled performance in a compact package. With industry-leading pressure ratings and high-speed capability, the cutting-edge pump maximizes power density for your most demanding applications. Its superior efficiency translates to lower energy costs and reduced heat generation, while the specialized design keeps noise levels low.

Class-leading performance

A range of high-performance ratings puts the PVMX pump at the top of its class, delivering significant efficiency and operational benefits. It features a continuous operating pressure of up to 350 bar, enabling greater power density, reduced actuator size, and minimized system stress. Its rated rotational speed of 3,800 rpm is perfectly matched for high-speed servo motor applications requiring fast response and frequent cycling. Furthermore, it operates with impressively low noise levels, achieving as low as 72 dB(A) (at 280 bar and 3,000 rpm), making it ideal for acoustically sensitive environments. These capabilities support quieter machines, faster response times, and compact hydraulic power units.

Two quadrant mode

Designed for bidirectional flow without complex valving, the pump allows the flow direction to be reversed by either reversing the direction of the servo motor or utilizing the pump's over-center design. This simplifies system architecture while enabling advanced motion control functions such as fast actuator retraction, controlled deceleration, and pressure relief cycles.

Variable speed optimized

Compared to traditional fixed-speed pump systems, this servo-driven pump can achieve energy savings of up to 80%, depending on the duty cycle. Several factors drive this efficiency: the pump operates only when needed (eliminating idle losses), higher speeds enable the use of smaller electric motors, energy recuperation during deceleration offsets input power demands, and reduced cooling requirements lower heat generation. The result is a significant reduction in overall power consumption, leading to lower operating costs, a reduced carbon footprint, and improved compliance with energy efficiency directives.
