A leading global manufacturer of cleaning technology and professional cleaning systems has long been committed to enhancing the performance and reliability of its hot water cleaning equipment. With the introduction of a new generation of mobile hot water cleaners, Danfoss Burner Components presented its BFM pump, which was still in the development phase at the time.
Rather than simply creating a product for the mobile market, Burner
Components involved the customer early in the development journey to gain a deep understanding of real-world technical requirements. Maximum robustness, flexibility, and operational safety under demanding conditions quickly emerged as key priorities.
The market for compact fuel pumps presents several challenges, as many available solutions struggle to meet requirements related to limited installation space, dry-run capability, and environmental resistance. Following extensive technical evaluations, the customer selected the Danfoss BFM pump as a key component for its next-generation hot water cleaning platform.
Danfoss BFM – a tailored technical solution for mobile hot water systems
We worked closely with the customer to fully understand their specific technical needs.
The requirements were clear: compact installation dimensions, high environmental durability, precise mechanical compatibility, and reliable operation under challenging conditions.
The BFM pump addresses these needs through its optimized 6 mm shaft, which integrates seamlessly into the existing system architecture without requiring additional service modifications. Equally important was the 90° angled electrical connector, designed specifically for installations with extremely limited space.
Thanks to enhanced IP protection, the cable and connector provide reliable resistance against moisture, spray water, and cleaning agents an essential requirement in demanding hot water cleaning applications.
The pump also demonstrated excellent dry-run capability, a critical feature because equipment is occasionally started before the fuel tank has been filled. Multiple internal customer tests confirmed the pump's robustness under these conditions.
In addition, the BFM pump proved fully compatible with six existing competitor pump types, supporting the customer's broad platform requirements and simplifying integration across multiple product variants.
Looking ahead, Danfoss can also supply BFM Bio100-ready pumps should future application requirements call for compatibility with renewable fuels.
