New capabilities build on Turbocor® compressors leadership to deliver unmatched efficiency, reliability, and lifecycle performance across next-generation cooling and heating applications.
Zero oil. Full performance.
Danfoss is advancing its Extended Oil-Free (EXO) program, expanding it into a complete oil-free ecosystem that combines compressors, system components, sensors, and digital services into a fully integrated solution.
Designed to go beyond standalone products, EXO enables OEMs to build optimized, oil-free systems with higher efficiency, improved reliability, and predictable long-term performance—meeting the growing demands of applications such as data centers, heat recovery, and comfort cooling and heating.
At the core of the EXO program are Danfoss Turbocor® oil-free magnetic bearing compressors, widely specified in mission-critical environments worldwide.
As the pioneer of oil-free compressor technology, Danfoss continues to define the standard for performance and reliability—now extended across a fully integrated system architecture.
Introducing Active Cooling
As part of this evolution, Danfoss introduces Active Cooling, a new capability for selected Turbocor® compressors that significantly expands operating limits and system performance.
With Active Cooling, OEMs can achieve:
- Up to 45% more capacity in high-temperature conditions
- Expanded operating envelopes with higher suction and discharge temperatures
- No power derating, even in extreme ambient environments
- Fewer compressors per system, reducing cost and complexity
By actively managing the thermal conditions of the compressor’s power electronics, Active Cooling enables stable, high-efficiency operation across a much wider range of conditions.
This unlocks new levels of flexibility for high-demand applications, including next-generation data centers and high-efficiency heat recovery systems.
From component to ecosystem
The EXO program brings together a full portfolio of oil-free technologies, including:
- OFC oil-free check valve for optimized flow control and improved system efficiency
- OFB oil-free shut-off ball valve for protection against refrigerant migration and enhanced reliability
- PTS staging valve, providing stability for better compressor staging control
- DST G4ze gas sensor for accurate and reliable detection of potential refrigerant leaks
These technologies are designed to operate seamlessly as a complete oil-free system, while also being available as standalone components, allowing OEMs to adopt and integrate solutions based on their specific system design and requirements.
Together, they enable a true oil-free system architecture that:
- Eliminates oil-related risks and performance degradation over time
- Ensures stable operation across all loads and ambient conditions
- Improves system visibility and control through advanced sensing and digitalization
- Reduces maintenance requirements and operational complexity
- Maximizes lifecycle efficiency and system uptime
Meeting the demands of modern applications
The rapid growth of AI-driven data centers and high-performance cooling systems is increasing the need for efficiency, uptime, and scalability.
We pioneered oil-free compressor technology, and today we continue to define it in the most demanding applications. With the EXO program and our new Active Cooling capability, we are expanding what customers can achieve—delivering higher capacity, greater flexibility, and reliable performance under extreme conditions. This is essential for the next generation of cooling systems.

With the EXO program, Danfoss sets a new benchmark for oil-free technology—delivering a complete ecosystem that enables OEMs and end users to design more efficient, reliable, and future-ready systems, with the flexibility to implement integrated solutions or individual components as needed.
