Danfoss signs letter of intent to build the city of the future

Thursday, February 1, 2024

Grodzisk Mazowiecki – As part of H.M. King Frederik X's visit to Poland this week, Danfoss has signed a letter of intent today with the city of Grodzisk Mazowiecki near the Danfoss Grodzisk Campus in Poland.

H.M. King Frederik X attended the signing ceremony, which took place at Legia Stadium. The signing marks the start of the ambitious project; 'Grodzisk Mazowiecki x Champions Park', which will create the city of the future with the latest technology and green solutions in sustainability, energy efficiency, and energy distribution.

The project addresses Poland's need to begin an intelligent and cost-effective transition from predominantly coal-based energy consumption to more sustainable energy sources. Danfoss' solutions represent the first steps in the transformation and can help to reduce the energy consumed and reuse the energy that is already produced.

About the project, Adam Jędrzejczak, Poland Country Manager for Danfoss, says:

"Cities account for more than 70% of global CO2 emissions, and we are pleased to be part of this significant development project. We have already achieved rapid and cost-effective decarbonization at our factory in Grodzisk by reducing energy consumption and reusing the excess. Many of these learnings can also be applied to this project. We are especially proud to play an active role in creating the city of the future which is being built here."

Importantly, the 'Grodzisk Mazowiecki x Champions Park' project is not just an exhibition of sustainable solutions, but a practical example of how to improve the quality of life for current and future generations in a suburb of one of the fastest growing cities in Europe.

'Grodzisk Mazowiecki x Champions Park' spans 23 hectares and will integrate residential, retail, education, office, and leisure areas. With an expected completion of the first phase in 2026, this project sets the standard for sustainable development in Eastern European cities.
