Opened on the 1st of November 2019, Northern Lights village in Levi, Finland, offers an immersive arctic experience in Lapland.
40 igloos—Aurora cabins—are located in the wintry forest. They are glass-roofed so that guests can wrap up in a blanket and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Milky Way, the North star and the Northern lights.
The place is amazing! The cabins are of stylish design and always warm. The lasers on the glass roof work to clear any fresh snow in minutes, while the electric heating system managed by the remote control provides ultimate comfort.
Solution:
Aurora cabins—16 m² each—are equipped with floor heating.
It is an energy-efficient system providing up to 30 percent extra energy savings due to the integrated thermal insulation. DEVIcell / EFCI Insulation plates are covered with aluminum and have ready-made grooves for easy and fast installation of DEVIflex / ECflex heating cables.
The full covering aluminum effect ensures faster reaction times and an even heat distribution on the floor surface.
DEVIflex / ECflex 10T heating cables are installed in the grooves of DEVIcell / EFCI Insulation plates. They are designed specifically for dry installation under wooden covering. The installed power of each system comes to 1600 W. Electric heating systems are controlled by DEVIreg Smart / ECtemp Smart multi-functional thermostats.
Result:
With the new electric floor heating system, administrators of Northern Lights village can easily manage heating in each igloo, increasing comfort and satisfaction of their guests. They use an account to activate the floor heating system on a specific schedule when necessary and to deactivate it when no guests are staying. This ensures average energy savings of 30 percent.
Levi village in Lapland is the northernmost region of Europe where electric floor heating is installed providing guests with a good mix of outdoor freshness and indoor comfort.
