Danfoss Power Solutions completes UQDB coupling portfolio, offering high efficiency and reliability in data center liquid cooling applications

NORDBORG, DENMARK — Danfoss Power Solutions today announced the launch of its -08 size Danfoss Hansen® Universal Quick Disconnect Blind-Mate (UQDB) connector. Offering direct connection between servers and manifolds in data center liquid cooling applications, the quick-disconnect coupling is Open Compute Project (OCP) compliant and offers high efficiency, reliability, and ease of use. The -08 size is the final addition to Danfoss’ UQDB product portfolio, which now includes -02, -04, -06, and -08 sizes (1/8-inch to 1/2-inch body sizes).

Danfoss UQDB couplings feature a flat-face dry break design to avoid spillage during connection and disconnection. The push-to-connect design with self-alignment feature helps connect the server chassis to the manifold in locations with limited access or visibility. While the coupling bodies are fixed, the front portion of the plug half moves radially to align to the socket half of the coupling. Offering radial compensation of +/- 1 millimeter, Danfoss UQDB couplings simplify in-rack connections.

The Danfoss UQDB coupling was designed with the OCP community, which sets industry standards for thermal management in data centers. Danfoss is also contributing to the upcoming OCP V2 specification for UQD/B, scheduled for release in October. Danfoss UQDB couplings are fully compliant with OCP’s UQDB standards for next-generation data centers with denser liquid-cooled racks. All sizes of the coupling feature low pressure drops, which enables higher flow than OCP requirements and improves system efficiency. The new -08 size features a 29% higher flow rate than the OCP standard.

Every UQDB coupling Danfoss produces is helium-leak tested to ensure reliability. For further peace of mind, a QR code is printed on the socket and plug halves of each coupling to simplify identification and tracking throughout the product’s lifecycle.

“Our now-complete UQDB range expands our robust portfolio of thermal management products for data centers, enabling us to provide comprehensive systems and delivering on our 'one partner, every solution' promise,” said Chinmay Kulkarni, Data Center Product Manager, Danfoss Power Solutions. “When paired with our flexible, kink-free hoses, we deliver a complete direct-to-chip cooling solution that sets the standard for efficiency and reliability.”

Danfoss UQDB couplings are made of 303 stainless steel for high corrosion resistance. EPDM seals provide wide fluid compatibility, while O-ring boss (ORB) terminal ends offer secure, leak-free connections. The couplings feature an operating temperature of 10°C to 65°C and a minimum working pressure of 10 bar.
