NORDBORG, DENMARK — Danfoss Power Solutions today announced the global availability of its BMV Integrated Drive Motor, a two-speed axial piston motor with an integrated planetary reduction gearbox. Previously offered only in select markets, the drive motor offers high durability and reliable performance in a compact, field-proven design. BMV is designed for dual-path tracked machinery, such as compact track loaders.
With its smooth startup and high brake torque, the BMV Integrated Drive Motor ensures reliable, predictable machine performance. Unlike other motors that can experience a sudden acceleration, the BMV motor rotates smoothly regardless of pump swashplate angle at startup. This is enabled by a highly efficient rotating kit combined with an optimized reduction gear box system that delivers high torque at low speeds and precise power transmission. The integrated design results in controlled, predictable machine startup, contributing to improved drivability, productivity, and overall machine performance. An integrated high-torque multiplate parking brake keeps the machine stationary, as the brake torque is higher than the motor’s maximum output torque.
The BMV Integrated Drive Motor features a compact, lightweight design. The space-saving, integrated package enables easy installation and removal plus simple gear oil changes. Concave areas on the drive mounting flange enable direct access to the motor fasteners, enabling the BMV to be installed and serviced from the machine’s exterior. The BMV is also lighter in weight than other motors in its class, contributing to overall machine weight reduction. The BMV 28/32-cc frame size is up to 14% lower in weight than similar motors, while the BMV 41/51-cc size is up to 13% lower in weight.
Engineered specifically for high duty cycle compact track loaders, the BMV Integrated Drive Motor was designed to maximize durability and lifetime. It features robust, field-proven Danfoss rotating kits and optimized geometries for high performance and reliability. A duo-cone mechanical seal prevents dirt ingress, reducing the risk of contamination. In use in Japan, South Korea, and China for more than 10 years, the BMV motor has been continually optimized based on customer feedback.
“Our BMV drive motor boasts a decade of experience, making it a product well proven in the marketplace,” said Fumiaki Egawa, Global Sales Development Manager, Daikin-Sauer-Danfoss. “The time is right for expansion into additional markets, as tracked machines such as CTLs grow in popularity. Along with our Thorx CLM T motor, Danfoss can offer OEMs the track drive technology they prefer — axial piston with gearbox or cam lobe — delivering an ideal solution for a variety of machines.”
The BMV Integrated Drive Motor is available in two frame sizes and four displacements: 28 cc, 32 cc, 41 cc, and 51 cc. Imperial and metric port configurations are available. Optional features include a loop flushing valve and PLUS+1® compliant speed sensor. Ideal applications include crawler-type vehicles such as compact track loaders, crawler carriers/forwarders, crawler tractors, and crawler mowers.
