It’s time for a paradigm shift. The rapid growth of industrial heat pumps and AI-driven data centers is redefining demand across our industry. Electrification is accelerating heat pump adoption, while high-performance computing is placing unprecedented requirements on cooling systems.

Data center cooling: enabling the next generation of digital infrastructure
Cooling already accounts for a significant share of a data center’s total energy consumption. As power densities rise, inefficiencies directly limit computing capacity and profitability, driving demand for highly efficient, reliable, and scalable cooling solutions.
With increasing processor power and rack densities, liquid cooling is becoming essential. Danfoss supports this shift with an end-to-end portfolio designed to ensure precise temperature control, system safety, and operational flexibility.
Liquid cooling: CDUs and racks
Danfoss offers an unmatched end-to-end portfolio of components for Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), providing precise temperature control and efficient thermal management, including pre-engineered valve trains that connect CDUs to server racks, simplifying installation and ensuring optimal performance.
Key products highlight for CDUs and racks include:
- Brazed plate heat exchanger optimized for efficient liquid-to-liquid applications. The CDU-optimized portfolio offers approach temperatures of 2°C to 4°C with capacities up to 1.3 MW in a single unit
- Alsmart®, a programmable and secure (cyber security) HVAC controller platform offering intuitive programming, best-in-class hardware, and remote monitoring for intelligent CDU control
Server racks
- CoolTrain™ valve train, manufactured from corrosion-resistant materials and proven in glycol systems up to 40%, delivering precise balancing and control of hydronic liquid cooling flows. Process heating up to 3 MW
Danfoss is addressing the growing demand for industrial heat pumps capable of delivering high temperatures, reaching 120°C/248°F today, with 150°C/302°F on the horizon.
Significant investments have expanded Danfoss’ compressor portfolio to support heat pump systems from 100 kW up to 3 MW, compatible with a wide range of refrigerants, from low-GWP HFOs to natural alternatives such as CO₂ and hydrocarbons.
Key product highlights for industrial heat pumps include:
- BOCK® HGX68 CO₂ T helps achieve superior efficiency and a smaller footprint for large-scale CO₂ systems. This 8-cylinder transcritical compressor provides up to 97.7 m³/h of displacement (at 50 Hz), enabling systems of up to 3 MW in a single rack. The result is a simpler, more compact system design that significantly lowers operating costs
- Large CO₂ ejector and motorized CO₂ control valves enhance system efficiency and performance in CO2 transcritical systems by offering significant energy savings and simplified operation
- Danfoss advanced KS1 twin screw compressor integrates a refrigerant-cooled inverter, delivering extreme compactness, reduced footprint, easier installation and service, and cost savings by eliminating additional cabling. Its multi-refrigerant platform and wide operating envelope ensure optimal performance across varied climates and applications
