Helping Norway achieve carbon-neutrality
Two years ago, Norway joined the small group of countries that have pledged to become carbon-neutral by 2030. Carbon-neutrality, or having a net zero carbon footprint, refers to achieving net zero carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
One action that Norway has taken to reach this goal is to make all of Oslo’s construction sites zero emission. Diesel use in construction machinery accounts for approximately 20 percent of total CO2 emissions in Oslo. Making the switch to hybrid and fully-electric solutions critical.
Danfoss Editron, in partnership with Pon Equipment AS, has developed a fully battery-operated electric excavator using the Editron electric drivetrain system. Currently in production, the excavator’s reduced level of carbon emissions enables it to be widely implemented in urban areas. Especially as more and more cities are taking steps to become carbon-neutral.
