With decarbonization gaining momentum as industry works toward meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement, interest in green hydrogen as a power source is growing. To foster conversation among stakeholders on the potential of hydrogen, Danfoss invites industry professionals, policymakers, and sustainability advocates to attend its latest webinar, "Hydrogen Horizons: Unlocking the Potential of Green Hydrogen," on Thursday, July 11 at 11 a.m. ET.

Danfoss North America president Rick Sporrer, sustainability communications advisor Dane Fetterer, and Danfoss Drives’ head of electrification and system drives Clayton Gibbons will participate in a thought-provoking and insightful conversation on how green hydrogen, supported by significant investments and technological advancements, can drive a sustainable future. Drawing from Danfoss’ recent Impact Series whitepaper “Green Hydrogen: A Critical Balancing Act,” the discussion will delve into the strategic production and consumption of green hydrogen.

Green hydrogen offers an innovative solution to replace fossil fuels in hard-to-abate sectors such as aviation, shipping and heavy industry. In October 2023 the U.S. Department of Energy affirmed the U.S.’s commitment to hydrogen adoption, announcing a $7 billion investment in seven regional clean hydrogen hubs to accelerate the domestic market for low-cost clean hydrogen. The Department predicts that, as a result, the hubs will produce approximately three million tons of clean hydrogen annually.

But producing hydrogen in an efficient and cost-effective manner is essential for hydrogen use to be feasible, as is reducing costs and stress on electricity grids by producing hydrogen when there is excess (and cheap) renewable energy in the grid. Among the topics: the latest innovations in hydrogen production efficiency, the potential of reusing excess heat and the importance of energy storage.

“Green hydrogen has an important role to play in the transition away from fossil fuels,” said Sporrer. “I am proud of Danfoss’ leadership in developing solutions to support our customers in their adoption of hydrogen power and I am looking forward to engaging with industry professionals and other key stakeholders on this important topic.”
