North American leadership on hand for milestone celebration

On September 14, Danfoss marked the 70th anniversary of the opening of its Canada office. Recently named president of Danfoss North America (NAM) in July, Rick Sporrer, along with other members of the NAM leadership team, was in attendance to celebrate along with the site’s local employees. Employees were treated to a luncheon that included video messages from Danfoss CEO Kim Fausing and former Chairman Jorgen Clausen recognizing the accomplishments of the Canada team over the years.

Initially located in Toronto, the office began as a one-person sales site, grew into a sales and manufacturing operation with as many as 150 employees, and now serves as a sales and service organization, relocating to Oakville, Ontario, in late 2020. The 40-person team represents all Danfoss segments: Climate Solutions, Drives and Power Solutions. Several corporate human resources and communications staff are also based there. About two-thirds of the sales team works remotely in cities across Canada, staying flexible and responsive to customer needs.

In his video message to the team, Fausing praised the Canada team’s accomplishments, affirming, “Throughout the years, you have effectively safeguarded our purpose to provide the energy efficient technologies that enable the green transition and build a better future.” He also praised the team’s diversity and collaboration: “We are inspired by your leadership in building a diverse and inclusive workforce.”

“Our Canada team is vital to our growth in North America,” said Sporrer. “They support all Danfoss segments and service customers across Canada, building valuable relationships. When we combine the passion for customer service, with Danfoss technologies and solutions, I believe we can all envision continued success for the Oakville campus.”

“It was amazing to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Danfoss’s first North American entity alongside some great people,” said Rakesh Sethukumar, strategic sourcing manager in Oakville. “The Oakville office enables connection with people across different segments. One of the best things about the office is that the meeting rooms are named in the language of the Ojibwe tribe as an expression of gratitude to the Indigenous people.”

Additional members of the NAM leadership team who attended the celebration included Keri Phillips, vice president of NAM human resources; Ian Barrie, retiring head of sales for the NAM Danfoss Drives; Sheila Lenss, incoming head of sales for NAM Danfoss Drives; Rod Mumm, head of NAM Global Services; and Lisa Tryson, director of NAM corporate communications and public relations.
