From EuroSkills to classrooms worldwide
The idea began at EuroSkills in Herning, Denmark, where Danfoss designed and sponsored advanced refrigeration technology test benches for the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning competitions.
The response from participants and educators was overwhelming with the most common question being: “How can we get access to these Danfoss test benches to train our students?”
When we saw the excitement and interest from both students and teachers, it was clear these benches could make a real difference in classrooms around the world.
This is about inspiring the next generation of skilled professionals and giving them the tools to succeed.
That enthusiasm inspired us to make these benches available to technical schools worldwide, helping to strengthen interest in refrigeration technology and equip students with the practical skills needed for successful careers in the industry.
Real results in Technical College of Jutland in Hadsten, Denmark (Den Jyske Håndværkerskole)
One of the first schools to receive the benches was the Technical College of Jutland (Den Jyske Håndværkerskole) in Denmark, where two units are already in use.
Teachers see a transformation in learning. "It helps the learning process," says Mads Christian Søgaard Wendelboe, teacher at the Technical College of Jutland. "The knowledge sticks better with them. They’re allowed to grasp it on a whole new level."
The benches allow teachers to demonstrate key refrigeration processes in a tangible way: "We have the compressor here, the heart of the system. The cooling agent goes from vapor into liquid and then we allow it to vaporize again. Being able to show this hands-on makes it easier for students to understand and remember."
Students gain confidence for real-world work
The Danfoss refrigeration training benches have proven to be more than just equipment, they are an important part of building professional confidence.
By working with the same compressors, valves and controllers used in professional settings, students develop a clear understanding of real-world systems and processes.
