With energy costs rising, consumers are looking for ways to increase the energy efficiency of their heating systems. For many, that will mean switching to a more efficient heat source. And while that’s a great first step, there’s so much more you as an installer can do for them. For example, by installing thermostatic radiator valves, a quick, simple addition to your customer’s heating system, you can help them reduce energy waste and save money on their heating bills. By choosing a Danfoss product, we ensure you easy installation, support and handy tools to make your work.
Upgrading the radiator thermostats is one of the most cost-effective and fastest ways to reduce energy waste. Your customers can save up to 46% on the energy consumption!

As gas prices raise, customers are turning to new heat sources like heat pumps and district heating. While changing their heat source is a smart move, there's more they can do to boost energy efficiency. With a small extra investment, homes can achieve significant energy savings and improved comfort.
It’s time to debunk the myth that radiators and heat pumps don’t mix - it all comes down to optimising the flow. In fact, changing your customers’ heat source to a heat pump is only the first step to ensuring a more efficient heating system. By making sure that the valves provide the optimal water flow through their radiators and by upgrading their radiator thermostats, you can help them improve comfort and lower their energy consumption even further.
Help your customers make the most of their heating upgrades while reaping the benefits of energy savings and comfort. Check these 3 tips to make heat source change a success.

See how Danfoss Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) optimise the efficiency of condensing boilers in radiator heating systems. The efficiency is increased because TRV's lower the return temperature, supporting the condensing boiler to run in condensing mode most of the operation time. TRV's are the simplest and most effective solution for new EU regulations mentioned in the EPBD.

Heating and cooling our buildings accounts for about 30% of the final energy consumption in the Euopean Union, over 70% of which comes from fossil fuels. It requires more than optimisation of the heating or cooling system to improve the efficiency. Hydronic balancing of HVAC heating and cooling systems is essential, it is necessary in order to achieve proper indoor comfort and for the system to run as efficiently as possible. If the hydronic balance is not properly in place, end-user complaints, extra costs and reduced lifetime value of the system can be expected.
This paper, “System Balancing for Technical Building Systems: A great opportunity for energy savings and comfort”, published by the European Building Automation Controls Association (eu.bac), explains why it’s important to optimise heating and cooling systems and how this can translate to energy savings.

Hydronic balancing is one of the most important measures for optimising heating systems. Although all experts are aware of this measure, it is still difficult to draw clear distinctions between its variants – static, dynamic and auto-balancing.
Static hydronic balancing, the mass flows are regulated manually, via pressure-dependent valves. Here, the mass flows are calculated and set exclusively for full load cases – efficiency-optimised heating water distribution.
Dynamic hydronic balancing keeps the water flows and differential pressure of the heating system constant throughout the building under all load conditions and offers high energy saving potential, especially in large buildings.
Auto-balancing can be used in addition to or as an alternative to static or dynamic balancing. Auto-balancing solutions use intelligent digital system control to ideally implement complete hydronic balancing without complex pre-calculations.
Green renovations are not just about installing new expensive heat sources in your customers’ homes. There are also great ways of optimizing the existing heating systems that are already installed in homes.
500 million radiators in EU homes are still fitted with uncontrolled radiator valves
250 million radiators in EU homes with TRV’s older than 20 years
80-90% of existing residential buildings are not hydronically balanced today
Increasing energy efficiency in buildings is about more than equipment. It’s also about looking at how heating and cooling are distributed from the central generator to the individual rooms.
This paper, “System Balancing for Technical Building Systems: A great opportunity for energy savings and comfort”, published by the European Building Automation Controls Association (eu.bac), explains why it’s important to optimize heating and cooling systems and how this can translate to energy savings.
