Hope House Children’s Hospice in Oswestry, a charity providing vital care for children with life‑limiting conditions, is now benefiting from a major energy‑saving upgrade to its therapeutic pool system—thanks to a joint initiative by Danfoss Drives and long‑standing Danfoss Partner Digicon Solutions Ltd.
Supporting a hospice that supports families
The therapeutic pool at Hope House plays a central role in the hospice’s care. The warm water helps the body relax, improves mobility, and allows children to experience play and exercise that would otherwise be impossible.
Before the upgrade, the pool’s circulation pumps operated 24/7 at constant speed. This consumed substantial energy and created high running costs—funds that the hospice could otherwise use for frontline care.
A collaborative project to save cost
After Hope House contacted Danfoss via Alun Roberts, the hospice learned that variable‑speed control could dramatically cut pump energy use. Danfoss donated the required drives, and Digicon completed all installation, commissioning, programming, and electrical works entirely free of charge, with on‑site work carried out 25–27 November 2025.
Children’s charities like this are very close to my heart. Being able to support Hope House in such a practical way, at no cost to them, is something I am incredibly proud of.

Expected impact
Although it is early for measured results, modelling and the knowledge of the consumption of the previous installation, indicate:
- Up to 40% annual energy savings because of the ability to time and scale pump output, eliminating unnecessary 24/7 full‑speed operation
- Better pump efficiency and reduced wear
We are very grateful to Danfoss and Digicon. Reducing running costs means we can continue to offer the pool not only to resident children, but to wider families who benefit from the experience.
A partnership with purpose
This project demonstrates how strong industry partnerships can create meaningful social impact. By delivering a modernised, efficient pool system, Danfoss and Digicon are helping ensure the hospice can redirect more resources into the essential care it provides.
