When the handball team from the SG Flensburg-Handewitt enters the arena for the upcoming season to defend their gold in the world’s toughest league and play for glory in VELUX EHF Champions League, they will be backed up by Danfoss.
A totally sold out FLENS-ARENA broke out in goldrush and tears of joy when the male handball players from Flensburg won the German championship in June. For the second time ever in their history. After winning the VELUX EHF Champions League in 2014 and the German Cup in 2015 the SG Flensburg-Handwitt was able to bring home the German championship this summer. The club has taken the next step up and triumphed in the best handball league of the world.
Soon, the SG Flensburg-Handewitt will resume the hunt for more gold, in the DKB Handball-Bundesliga and the VELUX EHF Champions League, and it will be with a very visible reinforcement, when Danfoss steps in as jersey partner for the German titleholders. They will have the Danfoss logo on the back of their jerseys and it will appear on the rows inside the FLENS-ARENA.
“Germany is our third-largest market. It’s been exactly 60 years since we established our very first German factory in Flensburg and Danfoss has always had a special connection with the city. Today, we have nearly 800 of our highly specialized experts stationed in Flensburg and we see the sponsorship as our way of tightening even closer bonds with the city and the rest of Germany,” Danfoss CEO Kim Fausing says.
He calls the agreement between Danfoss and SG Flensburg-Handewitt for a great match:
“We might play on different fields, but we have the same aspiration: To be the very best.”
Dierk Schmäschke, CEO of SG Flensburg-Handewitt:
“We are very pleased that we were able to inspire the global leader Danfoss for the SG Flensburg-Handewitt. The company, based in Nordborg, fits perfectly to the idea, the vision and the strategy of the SG. We look forward to a good, professional and trusting cooperation. Our common goal is to set up the SG, Danfoss and the region perfectly for the future.”
