Committed to sustainable heating solutions and helping its customers progress towards CO₂ neutrality, the company wanted to transition its residential burners from standard pumps to Bio100 pumps. However, there is significant uncertainty in the market surrounding Bio100 pump adoption. While these pumps are undoubtedly the future, there are risks associated with being amongst the first movers. Despite these concerns, this OEM’s commitment to CO₂ neutrality and innovation drove its decision. After a thorough market investigation, the company chose Danfoss' Bio100 pumps for their proven reliability, paving the way for a greener future in Germany and Europe.

Danfoss Bio100 Pumps – the innovative solution

One of the key factors behind the OEM’s decision to transition to Danfoss’ Bio100 pumps was the company’s track record in this area. In 2023, Danfoss became the first supplier in the world to offer Bio100 BFP certified pumps for biofuel after obtaining the TÜV certification, which provided technical proof of its Bio100 compliance. This certification helped alleviate the OEM’s regulatory compliance concerns.

The Danfoss team also provided technical assistance and commercial support throughout the implementation. “The combination of our technical expertise and our products’ proven reliability helped set their minds at ease,” Hrvoje says.

After a three-year market analysis, the OEM decided to convert directly to Bio100 pumps, making them amongst the first in Germany and Europe to switch their portfolio to these pumps.

Danfoss expands its line of reliable high-quality burner components with new Bio100 pumps

Transitioning to liquid low-carbon fuels is an important part of the CO₂ decarbonization journey. Many of these fuels, which are created from different types of raw materials, are already available and will contribute significantly to climate protection together with modern oil-fired condensing boilers. Until now, the challenge has been getting biofuels to the boiler. With the release of our Bio30 pump last year, for the burner components industry, we played part with our portfolio of solutions, helping customers to decarbonize and lower the heating emissions.

Biofuel pumps ready to help customers decarbonize in EU and US

Danfoss Burner Components (BC) is a leader in the important field of fuel pumps for liquid heating systems. BC is the first supplier in the world to launch a line of Bio100 BFP pumps (compatible with up to 100% biofuel) and the only supplier to have the pumps certified in Europe and USA, approved by both UL and TÜV/DIN CERTCO. The DIN CERTCO certificate according to ISO 23553-1:2022 signifies the approval of the safety solenoid valve used in the pump.
