Industrial proportional directional valves with onboard electronics

  • Overview

Optimized valve and electronics

Our KB family of proportional directional valves with onboard electronics (OBE) features superior reliability and durability, IP67 environmental protection and reduced power consumption. With three performance levels to choose from, we offer an incredible depth of proportional valves with a variety of features and flow rates to meet customer demands in industrial and mobile applications. Our proportional directional valves can help you:

  • Reduce commissioning time through plug-and-play functionality
  • Reduce labor time and costs by minimizing wiring
  • Increase machine uptime
  • Improve productivity and quality
  • Increase automation
  • Enable easier serviceability

Size - NG 6 to NG 32 (D03 to D10)

Pressure - Up to 350 bar (5,000 psi)

Flow - Up to 700 L/min (185 gal/min)

To OBE or not to OBE

With a controller built in, valves with onboard electronics (OBE) do not require an external controller.

Valves with OBE offer a number of advantages. Among them:

  • Simpler, faster and lower cost valve package installation
  • Reduced possibility of selection and installation errors
  • Optimized valve and electronics
  • Simpler setup with limited user adjustments
  • Easier maintenance replacements
  • Reduced electrical cabinet space

Three performance levels, a world of possibilities

Our proportional directional valves with OBE are available in three performance levels—ultra, high and standard performance—to suit a wide range of application requirements.

Ultra performance

KBS direct-acting and KBH pilot-operated servo performance valves.

  • Single solenoid analog valve
  • Spool goes to 4th position when power is removed (pilot spool goes to 4th position when power is removed)
  • Amplifier has spool position feedback (amplifier has pilot- and main-stage spool position feedback)
  • Zero lap spool options
  • Suitable for closed-loop pressure and position control
  • Requires dedicated control amplifier

High performance

KBF direct-acting and pilot-operated single feedback valves.

  • Dual solenoid analog valve
  • Spool stays in center position when power is removed (pilot spool stays in center position when power is removed)
  • Amplifier has spool position feedback (amplifier has only main-stage spool position feedback)
  • Consistent valve-to-valve performance
  • No field adjustments required
  • Simple installation and start-up
  • Spool position monitor connection

Standard performance

KBD direct-acting and pilot-operated non-feedback valves.

  • Dual solenoid digital valve
  • Spool stays in center position when power is removed (pilot spool stays in center position when power is removed)
  • Amplifier does not have spool position feedback
  • Robust amplifier design
  • Vibration and shock resistant
  • High levels of EMC immunity
  • IP67 qualified
  • Plug-and-play digital electronics with no amplifier-to-valve setup requirements, plus command options, enable function and programmable ramps
Valve specification made simple
Need help choosing the correct valve for your application? Our product guide simplifies the specification of our proportional directional valve range. Designed to help narrow down your search to the correct type and size valve, this five-step guide will walk you through specification in a decision-tree format.
Don’t forget the subplates and bolt kits
To install Danfoss industrial valves, you need Danfoss subplates and bolt kits. This hardware is engineered especially for Danfoss valves and manifolds to give your systems the flat surfaces and stiffness required for a reliable seal.
