Consent to global initiatives

Danfoss has joined a number of national and international initiatives which promote sustainable development, social responsibility or climate improvements, such as the below mentioned.
United Nation’s Global Compact
In 2002, Danfoss joined the UN’s Global Compact’s ten principles of good company ethics.

Launched in July 2000, the UN Global Compact is a both a policy platform and a practical framework for companies that are committed to sustainability and responsible business practices. As a leadership initiative endorsed by chief executives, it seeks to align business operations and strategies everywhere with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

Caring for Climate

"Caring for Climate" is a voluntary initiative for the members of Global Compact who wish to mark their leading roles in the climate debate. “Caring for Climate" has the support of more than 180 companies and its purpose is to foster the diffusion of technological solutions to climate problems and to influence the political process. ”Caring for Climate” imposes requirements on companies to establish targets and implement appropriate measures to improve the global climate. Targets and results must be communicated to UN and the public.

The Danish Council for Sustainable Business Development
Danfoss takes part in The Danish council for sustainable business development.

The purpose of the council is
  • To share concepts and tools within sustainable business development that can benefit the competitiveness and earning capacity of companies on both the Danish and global markets. Amongst these, to find common frames of reference for defining sustainability for products and services
  • To share new Danish and international knowledge and tools, inspiring the Danish business community to work with sustainable development and take an active part in the public debate within the area
  • To encourage the establishment of public and private partnerships with a view to promoting sustainable products.

A comprehensive charter on the basis of 12 principles places the members under an obligation to take concrete actions in a number of areas, such as the management of suppliers, diversity in the workplace and climate changes.

World Climate Solutions
Danfoss sponsors Copenhagen Climate Solutions. Through its participation, Danfoss wishes to influence the Danish business community to apply more CO2 neutral solutions and reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.

ProjectZero
Through the Bitten and Mads Clausen Foundation, Danfoss is involved in the ProjectZero Foundation which works to make Sønderborg – by 2029 – the first large sustainable and CO2 neutral area in Europe. The goal is set to be reached via energy-savings and a switch to state-of-the-art energy forms.

Corporate Citizenship

Danfoss’ overall goal within Corporate Citizenship is "keeping our own house in order".
This applies to employees, so that they have an attractive workplace and a healthy working environment. It applies to the environment, where Danfoss products contribute to energy savings, and where the environmental impact of their production is constantly being reduced.
And it applies, in a broad sense, to social and ethical responsibility.
Efforts are continually being intensified, because when employee satisfaction is high, consumption of resources is as low as possible, and the company’s ethics and reputation are good, the result is a positive effect on the accounting bottom line.
