Solenoid valves used for vacuum treatment

Danfoss valves keep vacuum systems safe

19 May 2009
Non-invasive treatments, such as vacuum therapy, are becoming a popular method of redefining the body, particularly in South America. To reduce risks, quality, reliability and safety are essential in the solenoid valves used in vacuum therapy systems. So when two of Columbia’s leading vacuum therapy machine manufacturers experienced valve failure in their machines, they turned to their local Danfoss supplier for help.

Keeping systems and bodies safe around the globe

Vacuum therapy is a technique that shapes the body by encouraging the breakdown of fats and the removal of excess fluids and toxins. During treatment, a suction instrument gently massages the patient to stimulate blood circulation and lymphatic drainage. Vacuum therapy is also a successful method for treating connective tissue disorders.

So how does a vacuum therapy system work? The machine contains a pump that creates a vacuum. Four solenoid valves in parallel connection regulate the pump pressure. The flow controls can be adjusted to produce nine different levels of suction, giving a stimulating vacuum massage at a frequency of 1Hz, or one cycle per second. But if the valves leak, the vacuum pressure is affected, which can be dangerous for patients. So when leaky valves caused problems for two Columbian vacuum therapy system manufacturers, they acted quickly and gave their local Danfoss office a call.
Solenoid valve EV210A
And for the past two years, Danfoss’ EV210A solenoid valves have been successfully controlling these manufacturer’s vacuums – and keeping the treatment safe. The EV210A is a compact solenoid valve with a solid seal, high switching rates and low power consumption. The small size, together with the valve’s broad range of coils, makes the EV210A suitable for a broad range of industrial applications. And like all Danfoss products, quality and reliability make the valve a sure winner.
