BCP pressure switches

Using customer knowledge to create the most user-friendly boiler controls

17 August 2007
The new BCP pressure switch for steam and hot water boilers is characterised by its outstanding user-friendliness. The switch is the result of an intensive product development programme based on customer interviews, application knowledge and user-centred design.
When we began development of the switch three years ago, we visited a number of key customers to get their input about the features and functionality of boiler pressure controls.

We also wanted the new pressure switch to have a smart Danfoss look and therefore consulted Nico Daams, an industrial designer from Danfoss User Centred Design, an in-house consultancy specialising in design and user-centred innovation.

Nico did not focus solely on the design but also arranged a workshop on user-friendliness. This investment in the early stages of the product development process really paid off. The BCP pressure switch that is currently being introduced to the market not only has a sleek modern design but is also equipped with special features that make it stand out from the crowd:
• DIN 43650 electrical plug connection for easy plug-and-play
• External manual reset with a standard screwdriver
• Easy external adjustment of pressure setting and pressure differential
• Separate scales for pressure setting and differential setting

All these features will make installation and operation easy and trouble-free, for both boiler manufacturers and boiler room operators.
