New soft starters from Danfoss solve old problems

06 April 2007
Danfoss has enlarged its CI-tronic™ range with the addition of new TCI CH-C single-phase soft starters.
Fully customisable, they are suitable for almost all residential compressor applications.

TCI CH-C – tailor-made soft starters suitable for any residential compressor application

In applications requiring single-phase compressors, inrush current is a potentially serious problem. Undesirable voltage drops and light flicker can occur, badly affecting residential and light-commercial customers, especially those with a weak power supply. Moreover, many local regulatory authorities and energy suppliers place limits on the amount of peak current drawn by motors.

Given these issues, Danfoss realised there was a need for customised single-phase soft starters in residential compressor applications. The result is the innovative CI-tronic™ TCI CH-C, which set to make many of the traditional problems associated with single-phase compressors a thing of the past.

As small commercial applications are very sensitive to factors such as pressure, soft starters require special software in their starting devices. TCI CH-C soft starters use semiconductors to control the phase angle to achieve minimum starting currents. By customising the software to suit the application, Danfoss is able to offer tailor-made products to all its OEM customers.
TCI CH-C soft starters are particularly suited to residential heat pumps
TCI CH-C soft starters are particularly suited to residential heat pumps. These have become increasingly popular in recent years, recognised for their value as efficient and ecological sources of heat. There is also a TCI CH model equipped just with a run capacitor, making it the optimum choice for soft starting PSC motors.
