Hurst biomass boiler

Solid product design and superior support help Danfoss break into biomass market

27 August 2007
The largest US manufacturer of biomass-fired boiler systems – Hurst Boiler (Coolidge, GA) – has selected Danfoss pressure and temperature switches, solenoid valves and pressure transmitters.

Going the extra distance for our customers

Steam-generating biomass-fired boilers utilise ‘chipped wood’ as combustible fuel and are commonly found in paper mills and throughout the forest-related industries. These systems are ideal in situations where process and production yield consistent amounts of waste-by-products that can be chipped into manageable fuel.

Specialising in the production of such boilers is Hurst Boiler. The company called on Danfoss after its engineering department noticed our ‘Safe, Durable Controls’ literature. They were impressed by the robust and simplistic design of our switches and their internal metal construction, and made the decision to incorporate Danfoss switches, valves and pressure transmitters in their boilers.

According to Wes Whitten, Regional Sales Manager for Danfoss in the US, Hurst finds working with Danfoss refreshing. The ‘Danfoss difference’ means our customers always deal directly with qualified personnel to receive the expert attention they need. Hurst has found that Danfoss personnel go the extra distance – seeking to understand their needs and deliver the right solutions at a competitive price.

And despite our status as relative newcomers to the biomass world, other industry heavyweights in the US are also expressing interest in Danfoss products. We are looking forward to growing our business in this emerging market.
