There are three main levels of training:
Level 1 Basic
Level 2 Intermediate
Level 3 Advanced (bespoke)
Below is a brief overview of the main scheduled courses currently on offer in the Danfoss VLT® Training Programme (for a more detailed description please click on the relevant link below):
VLT® Drives Training (Level 1 - Basic)
This course is designed to familiarize end-users with the VLT® product range. Topics covered include basic design of an inverter, basic motor theory and how we obtain variable speed from a fixed frequency and voltage supply. We run through the basic setting up of a drive, common faults codes and fault finding menu structures, self-tuning facilities and basic programming and storage of parameters. The course finishes with exercises on a 240 Vac “demo drive” training rig and is designed to test your new found knowledge on programming.
Duration: 1 Day
Prerequisite: Basic electrical knowledge
VLT® HVAC Drive Training – Installation & Commissioning (Level 1 - Basic)
This course is designed with basic installation and commissioning in mind. We cover cabling, fusing and protection; along with screening for EMC and some of the common pitfalls that inexperienced users often overlook. We also demonstrate how to save parameters into the keypad and set up the drive so that it will protect your motor.
Duration: 1 Day
Prerequisite: Basic electrical knowledge
VLT® HVAC Drive Training – Pumps and Fans (Level 2 - Intermediate)
This course is designed to cover the use of frequency inverters in typical HVAC applications; mainly with regards to fan and pump applications. The content includes sections on energy saving, The Carbon Trust ECA scheme and Process-Closed loop control. The course is practical and interactive by nature; using examples from the HVAC industry and associated technologies such as BMS control, dampers and valves.
Duration: 1 Day
Prerequisite: Attendees should have completed VLT® Drives Training (Level 1 - Basic)
VLT® Drive Training – Harmonic Distortion & EMC (Level 2 - Intermediate)
This specialised course gives candidates an insight into the phenomenon of harmonics and the mitigation of its effect. Candidates will also gain an insight into the phenomenon of Electro-Magnetic Compatability (EMC) and the mitigation of its effect. It is a practical guide to design engineers; explaining the law, the standards and alternative mitigation techniques.
Duration: 1 Day
Prerequisite: Attendees should have completed VLT® Drives Training (Level 1 - Basic)
VLT® Serial Communciations Training (Level 2 - Intermediate)
Danfoss Drives Serial Communications Training shows how a PLC system communicates messages to the drive and how the drive would be configured (no PLC programming instruction will be given). This course is primarily intended for users of Danfoss inverters and programmers / software engineers.
Duration: 1 Day
Prerequisite: Attendees should have completed VLT® Drives Training (Level 1 - Basic)
Our training courses are held at three main venues
- Danfoss UK Headquarters in Denham, Bucks
- Danfoss VLT Service Centre in Oldham (PNP)
- Danfoss facility in Sheffield
