157 million tons of CO₂ are saved per year through the 130 million heat pumps installed in residential buildings. 1.2 billion tons of CO₂ could be saved per year if buildings and industry utilized heat pumps to their full potential.

21 million tons of CO₂are saved annually through the solar-powered electricity systems that are installed worldwide. 600 million tons of CO₂ could be saved annually by 2020 if solar powered electricity systems provided 12% of the EU and 10% of the US electricity demand.
