Oil-free compressors

1.5 million tons of CO2 are saved every year through the Danfoss Turbocor compressors that are installed in commercial buildings worldwide. Today, much less than 1% of commercial buildings have indoor climate systems with oil-free, variable speed compressors. The potential is huge. In the US alone, 950 million tons of CO2 could be saved every year, if all commercial buildings had systems with this kind of compressor.
The Danfoss Turbocor compressors are the world's first completely oil-free compressors.

They are specifically designed for the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industry and can reduce the energy consumption in systems in commercial buildings by up to 35-50%.

The centrifugal compressor contributes to a smaller energy bill thanks to its high efficiency, working without using oil as a lubricant. Instead magnetic bearings replace the oil, which reduces the friction losses and makes the compressor more efficient. The oil-free operation also reduces complexity, while at the same time cutting costs.

The pay-back time typically varies from 1 to 3 years, depending on the application.
