Oil-free compressors

1 million tons of CO2 are saved every year through the Danfoss Turbocor compressors that are installed in commercial buildings worldwide. Today, far less than 1% of commercial buildings have indoor climate systems with oil-free, variable speed compressors. The potential is huge. In the US alone, 950 million tons of CO2 could be saved every year, if all commercial buildings had systems with this kind of compressor1.
The Danfoss Turbocor compressors are the world's first completely oil-free compressors. They are specifically designed for the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industry and can reduce up to 35-50% of the energy consumption in systems in commercial buildings. The centrifugal compressor contributes to a smaller energy bill thanks to its high efficiency. It works without using oil as a lubricant. Instead magnetic bearings replace the oil. This reduces the friction losses making the compressor more efficient. The oil-free operation also reduces complexity while at the same time cutting costs.
