Sterilisation using UV radiation is commonly used in wastewater treatment applications and is finding an increased usage in potable water treatment. In surface water post-treatment, UV sterilisation is common in conjunction with reverse osmosis installations. It is can also be used on groundwater, particularly when the water is being bottled.
