FAQ
Are the code numbers of the EV220B solenoid valves the same as the previous EVSI valves?
Answer: The code numbers of the current EV220B are the same as our the previous type designation EVSI. Please note that some versions with NPT connection still use the EVSI designation.
Can I use the EV220B with chlorine?
Answer: No, chlorine is very corrosive. For this application, we recommend using a plastic valve.
What is the difference between the EV220A and EV220B solenoid valves?
Answer: The EV220A valve is a valve with a compact actuator and coil system, suiting many applications with known specifications. The EV220B valve offers more flexibility and an even better performance.
Can I use the EV220B solenoid valves for steam applications?
Answer: Yes, you can use the EV220B (sizes 15-50) in EPDM versions for low pressure steam not exceeding 140 °C. For higher steam temperature you should use the EV215B or EV225B valves.
I need an EV220B 1/2" for an open water system. Which one should I choose?
Answer: You can choose any 1/2" valve with EPDM seal material from the EV220B range - the choice will depend on the capacity needed.
Can I mount an EV220B valve upside down?
Answer: In principle yes. The EV220B 15-50 can be mounted 360 degrees without any effect, but we recommend that the solenoid valve be installed with the coil upwards. This minimizes the risk of dirt collecting and wear on the actuator system.
I have mounted an EV220B valve in the warm water circuit of a heating system. The valve does not open. Is it defect?
Answer: Under the circumstances that there is no dirt or limestone in the system, it is likely that the differential pressure is too low to operate the valve. In a closed system we recommend using a valve which doesn't require a differential pressure. If you use an assisted lift operated valve type EV250B, capable of operating from 0 bar differential pressure, your valve will work correctly.
I have ordered an EV220B valve NO, but if I blow through the valve, it is closed. Have I got a NC valve?
Answer: Like an NC diaphragm valve, an NO valve requires a minimum differential pressure of about 0.3 bar to open. Therefore you cannot open the valve just by blowing, and so it can be difficult to decide if a valve is NC or NO just by blowing.
Why is an EV220B solenoid valve more expensive than an EV220A valve?
Answer: The reason is that the EV220B has a higher performance - can operate with higher temperature and works under higher differential pressure.
How can I replace 032U7328?
Answer: 032U7328 was the solenoid valve body for EV220B 50 in gun metal. Now the body is made in brass or DZR brass. If you want to replace this valve or buy a spare part set it is important to know what the original seal and NO/NC function was. Original solenoid valve code nos. could be 032U7150, -7175, -7151, -7152, -7185, -7153 or -5850.
I assemble air suspension system for cars, does Danfoss have any solenoid valve for this kind of application?
Answer: Yes, we already sell our solenoid valves types EV210 and EV220 models for similar air applications. You just need to inform us of the solenoid valve technical specifications.
What is the difference between the EV220B and EV250B valves?
Answer: Valves type EV220B (servo-operated) are mainly used for open systems, where the differential pressure is higher than a certain value. An EV250B (assisted lift operated) can be used for both open and closed systems, but is mainly used in closed systems where the pressure conditions are low or uncertain. If you are not sure what the exact differential pressure will be, choose the EV250B.
Is it possible to install an EV220B (15-50 series) on vertical pipes?
Answer: Yes, it is possible, but only when medium is clean. Danfoss recommends that solenoid valve be installed with coil upwards. This minimises risk of dirt collecting in the armature tube.
Does Danfoss offer a solenoid valve KIWA approval, neccasary to approve a water pump module?
Answer: No, but for the EV220B valve we have the English approval WRAS, the French approval ATTESTATION DE CONFORMITE SANITAIRE, ACS and the Polish approval PANSTWOWY ZAKLAD HIGIENY, PZH.
Which solenoid valve should I choose for Glycol as a medium?
Answer: You could choose a valve with EPDM seal material, e.g. our EV220B series.
I have an EV220B 25B that does not close properly - should I unscrew the equalising orifice to close it?
Answer: First of all you need to find out what the medium is. Hard water could cause some trouble with valve closing, if the equalizing orifice is blocked. You have to check the differential pressure which should be at 0.3 bar min. The equalising orifice could be changed if necessary; have a look on the technical brochure available on our internet site. Spare part kits with diaphragm and O-ring and gaskets are also available.
Which solenoid valve should I choose for showers?
Answer: For showers, you should use EPDM as seal material. Showers is an open system, so both servo-operated types EV220A and EV220B can be used.
Which coil type fits the EV220B valve?
Answer: You need B-type coil (usually blue in colour) to control a B-type valve.
Can I get Danfoss solenoid valves suitable for seawater?
Answer: Yes, however the amount of salt in seawater, oxygen concentration and temperature of the water all determine how the medium influences the different solenoid valve materials. The best option is an EV220B in stainless steel, or the EV222B, featuring an isolating diaphragm.
Can I an EV220B valve for vacuum?
Answer: No, you have to choose a valve type that will work from 0 bar differential pressure (direct-operated or assisted lift).
In a open water system, I have an EV210 valve which does not open - what can be wrong?
Answer: Most likely the system pressure is too high. The EV210B operates from 0 to a limited differential pressure, especially on bigger valve sizes. If this is the case, we recommend a more powerful coil or a valve type EV220B or EV250B.
Are your valves certificied for use with water?
Answer: All our EV210A, EV210B, EV220A, EV220B, EV250B are certified by WRAS. Some of the EV220B valve also have the French approval ATTESTATION DE CONFORMITE SANITAIRE, ACS and the Polish approval PANSTWOWY ZAKLAD HIGIENY, PZH. All these valves have seal material in EPDM.
