Answer: A thermal overload relay equipped with bimetals is a relatively small, yet reliable appliance to protect electrical motors against:
–mechanical overload,
–asymmetrical operation,
–phase failure.
To provide protection against short circuit current you should use fuses.
For full protection of the motor, we recommend CTI circuit breakers.
