Heated towel rails are the latest must-have feature in all new bathrooms and bathroom renovations. The latest designs incorporate smoothly curved steel tubing.

But behind these smooth contours lies a time consuming and tricky production process – tube bending. A Baltic steel company identified a need for an easy-to-operate, compact machine that could bend steel pipes quickly and efficiently. And Danfoss is supplying the reversing contactors to meet this machine’s compact design specifications.

Small and made to last

With a goal of creating a compact, simple and reliable tube bender, the company hoped to minimise the time it takes to bend a steel tube – and cut equipment costs in the process. They designed a strong frame with double 90mm aluminium plates, but the frame’s thickness reduced the space available for motor components inside the machine. With less available space, the motor’s standard kinematic layout had to be adjusted and outfitted with smaller components. And Danfoss offered the appropriate solution – the RCI reversing motor contactor.

The compact RCI is a perfect fit for narrow spaces and offers excellent overheating resistance, making it ideal for harsh working conditions. With a zero cross-switching method, the RCI ensures rapid and precise motor control, virtually eliminating EMC emissions. And it’s perfect for equipment where multiple switching capabilities and long life are essential. Other features include:
