Danfoss to Sponsor DC Workshop on Natural Refrigerants

19 January 2012
Danfoss today announced it will join a distinguished list of companies to sponsor ATMOsphere America 2012, which is themed “The Business Case for Natural Refrigerants in North America.” The workshop will be held June 12-13, 2012, in Washington, DC.

The two-day event will convene experts and decision makers from leading retailers, suppliers, associations and more in interactive workshops to discuss natural or low Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerant trends, the latest technologies, market developments and regulatory issues in North America.

“Today, with the EPA’s recent SNAP approval of hydrocarbon refrigerants, in addition to the existing approval for CO2, the United States has joined other leading countries in the movement toward low GWP refrigerants,” commented Robert Wilkins, vice president public affairs at Danfoss. “HVACR manufacturers possess first-hand experience and knowledge of refrigerants and their equipment applications. At Danfoss, we understand the complexities surrounding refrigerants and interactions with lubricants, compressors and controls. We’ve been immersed in the search for alternatives to HFCs (hydrofluorocarbons), and have invested in the development of products that are compatible with such refrigerants as hydrocarbons, CO2 and ammonia.”

“We consider opportunities to engage in the conversation as critical to ensure
forthcoming transitions to more environmentally friendly refrigerants make good business sense, that they take a calculated approach to accommodate the adaptation of existing systems as well as new ones.”

A similar event also organized by shecco, ATMOsphere Europe, was held in Brussels, Belgium, October 11-12, 2011.
