High Power Drives Bring Efficiency to Oregon Vineyard
09 May 2008
After extensive research to find the right region for growing quality grapes, including fertile soil conditions and ideal weather, seven entrepreneurs combined efforts and formed Seven Hills Vineyards in Milton Freewater, Oregon. Milton Freewater is located in northeastern Oregon along the Columbia River. This 1265-acre site resides just south of Walla Walla, Washington, which has a total of 52 wineries in that area.
Seven Hills Vineyards started plotting and subdividing the property into smaller plots to sell to other premier wineries for growing grapes. They next constructed an elaborate, state-of-the-art control system for irrigating the entire 1265 acres. There are two main wells that will supply water to three large ponds, each of which will hold approximately 10 million gallons. In each pond, there are pump stations to distribute the water to the entire area for irrigation. The electrical control system for Seven Hills was engineered with the help of Doyle Electric, and the comprehensive integrated pumping system package was engineered by Danfoss Drives’ water distributor, Mitchell Lewis and Staver.
