Danfoss CEO Niels B. Christiansen to Address Bright Green Forum During COP15

When world leaders gather at the 15th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen, Denmark, Dec. 7-18, their goal is to reach an agreement on how to stabilize the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere in order to prevent man-made climate change.

Although international cooperation is key to reducing CO2 emissions, an effective response to the global climate challenge also depends on innovation and intelligent technologies that both conserve natural resources and save money.

“Many of these technologies already exist,” said Danfoss CEO Niels B. Christiansen. “The task before us is to take these proven, energy-efficient technologies and apply them to solutions that can immediately reduce CO2 emissions and save energy. The money these technologies save can then be invested in more long-term development of new, green energy sources.”

Danfoss will take this message to Copenhagen, attending COP15 events and serving as an official sponsor through its association with the Denmark Confederation of Danish Industry (DI).

DI, the premier lobbying organization for Danish business on national and international issues, will host Bright Green, the largest parallel event during COP15, Dec. 12-13 in Copenhagen. Danfoss is the main sponsor of this event that will showcase the world’s leading technologies, attracting 175 exhibitors.

“Bright Green is designed to demonstrate to officials, experts and heads of state the technologies already at work in the climate change challenge,” said Christiansen. “At Danfoss, for example, we offer more than 75 years experience in energy-efficient technologies. We are applying that core knowledge to traditional energy solutions as well as projects that use renewable energy sources, including wind and solar. At the same time, targeted investments in innovation and new development projects will continue to support the company’s position as a leader in the green economy.”

Christiansen will address the Bright Green forum on Dec. 13. His remarks will focus on technologies and solutions ready to meet the climate challenge.

Danfoss will also co-sponsor a reception immediately following the Alliance to Save Energy forum, “From Paradox to Paradigm,” on Dec. 14. The forum features two panels that will examine the possibility of reducing global greenhouse gas emissions even while economies grow.

In addition to COP15, Danfoss supports a number of national and global initiatives that promote sustainable development, social responsibility or climate improvements. For updated news about COP15, visit www.solutionsready.danfoss.com.
