Keeping perfect track of fluid temperatures throughout the system
The most common reason for hydraulic components failure is fluid problems, which include incorrect fluid viscosity. Viscosity is often directly related to the fluid's temperature – so monitoring that temperature is extremely important to maintaining the integrity of the hydraulic fluid. And the Danfoss MBT 3270 temperature sensor offers the exceptional measurement accuracy and speed necessary for operators to ensure overall system stability.
The Danfoss MBT 3270 is a critical component in an environment where the various system parts – such as the pump, motor and valves – all have documented temperature ratings and risk losing efficiency, or even failing if these ratings are exceeded. The MBT 3270 consistently monitors fluid temperatures and delivers accurate readings and quick response times. Housed in a compact and sturdy design, the MBT 3270 is unaffected by the high-heat, high-pressure and high-moisture conditions in hydraulics systems.
If a particular system’s conditions require an even faster response time than the standard MBT 3270’s 5 seconds at 0.2 m/s fluid (τ), Danfoss’ special MBT 3270 version offers a response time of 1 second at 0.2 m/s fluid.
The importance of real temperature readings
Traditional hydraulic circuit temperature reading procedures are often inaccurate because temperatures tend to be taken at the oil reservoir, or near the cooler (heat exchanger) – not at the actual components. As a result, the overall system condition readings are generally much cooler than those of individual components, sometimes varying by 15°C or more. These readings typically lead to a false indication of the stability and efficiency of the system, and explain why certain components fail much earlier than expected.
The MBT 3270 offers an ideal solution as it can be simultaneously threaded into multiple areas on the hydraulic circuit – including the reservoir – to provide a true picture on both the individual component and overall system level.
