ELGI and Danfoss take it to the next level
Recently, ATS ELGI won a major contract from the Indian Ministry of Defense to supply tire inflators with built-in compressors. The tire inflators are for various defense units located at very high altitudes in the Himalayas (8,000 to 23,000 ft. above sea level) where there is an ambient temperature of around -10 degrees Celsius.
ATS ELGI turned to Danfoss to supply reliable, high-quality components. The MBS 1200 pressure transmitter can operate under harsh environmental conditions and together with a precision microcontroller provide the optimal solution for filling compressed air up to 140 psi in extreme conditions.
ATS ELGI also sought Danfoss’ expertise to help alleviate a problem with the plugs as the cable often detached from the connector. Due to the remote location of some of the defense units, providing after sales support to these locations is complicated, so the solution had to be durable. Danfoss solved the problem by supplying the transmitter with soldered cables which can be readily fixed to the microcontroller.
Technical evaluation is underway to explore the possibility of using EV224B solenoid valves for other versatile, automotive and garage equipment such as engine-driven vehicle washers and auto service units.
Another successful collaboration between ELGI and Danfoss proves that innovation and great service are a winning combination.
