Safer hydraulics give Danfoss customers a lift

10 August 2007
Danfoss’ products are renowned for their durability. For a growing number of customers in the North-Western European countries, it is that durability and reliability that makes Danfoss their first-choice partner. Here Sales Manager Paul Scarratt talks us through some of the latest developments in the EMA region as a strong economy continues to open up new opportunities, both for Danfoss and its customers.

Danfoss on hand to meet demand as customers reap the benefits of a strong regional economy

Marine generator manufacturers have traditionally been some of the biggest customers for Danfoss’ pressure and temperature devices. But the biggest growth in Europe, though, is coming from the mobile hydraulic market that produces plant equipment, such as tractors, excavators and trucks.

Growth over the last 18 months has been concentrated on transmitters from some of the big mobile hydraulics players, who all have subsidiaries in the region.

The transmitters are used in many applications, but are typically installed in hydraulic arms to prevent overloading and improve safety. The screw-in transmitters generate a signal corresponding to pressure so that operators can react to an increase in pressure rather than relying on a straight on/off switch device.

Our traditional strength in diesel generation in the buoyant shipping industry is also helping growth rates across the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Benelux countries.
Our pressure and temperature switches remain popular while interest in output devices is growing. Marine applications need to be very robust and Danfoss’ long experience and reputation as a manufacturer of durable products in the sector is reflected in the number of international approvals for its products.

We work directly with the engine manufacturers that have subsidiaries in our region, getting the specifications from head office and making sure that these are rolled out into the region. By working together in this way, we can make sure we match our products to the needs of the companies – and that improves reliability.

Finally, growth in Belgium is being driven by the growing wind turbine market while we are also seeing great potential for vacuum valves in the region.
