New approvals for pressure switches a major plus for US boiler market

08 June 2007
The KP range of pressure switches has long been a standout offering in the comprehensive Danfoss switch portfolio. And with recent approval by UL, CSA, and FM,* KP pressure switches will soar in popularity with customers who seek reliable performance at lower prices, reduced insurance premiums, and improved customer service.

Approvals expand customer choice

Pressure switches are essential to the safety of industrial boilers. They serve as limiters, shutting down the boiler if pressure exceeds a set safety limit and ensuring boilers don’t burst due to high pressure.

Traditionally, the market has been dominated by one single supplier. But recently this has begun to change. Chris Gangemi, Danfoss Product and Market Manager, explains: “A ruling in 2005 banned the use of mercury switches for all new boiler installations. Danfoss has been delivering mercury-free products in other markets for many years, often at lower prices and with superior customer service. UL353, CSA and FM approval will make them much more attractive to US customers.”
FM Approval
FM approval, issued by commercial and industrial property insurance and risk management organization FM Global, brings a further benefit to customers. In some applications, such as commercial and institutional properties, insurance carriers will give the building owner a significantly reduced price if safety equipment has FM approval.

Danfoss KP pressure switches offer a compact, robust design, and proven repeatable performance. Covering a range of pressures from 2 to 300 psig (0.14 to 20 bar) and with automatic or manual reset capability, they are produced in Danfoss’ ISO 9001 facilities. The switches are very appealing to customers who want safety, longevity and value, and a welcome offering to US industrial boiler manufacturers.
