Building Better Businesses Together

17 August 2007
When US firm The Fulton Companies decided to stop using pressure switches with mercury, it approached Danfoss for a replacement. However, Danfoss’ product lacked a key approval standard for the US market. But by working together, both companies were able to arrive at a favourable solution.

More and more US customers enjoying the Danfoss advantage

With production in the US, United Kingdom and China, The Fulton Companies is a leading manufacturer of heat transfer products including steam and hot-water boilers. It had traditionally used pressure switches that contained mercury but growing environmental concerns led to a change in the company’s strategy. It resolved to switch to non-mercury switches and teamed up with Danfoss. Our KP pressure switch was the perfect solution.

But there was a stumbling block. Danfoss was still relatively new to the US market and lacked the important UL353 approval for boiler applications. But instead of giving up, Danfoss – working in partnership with The Fulton Companies – sought and received the approval from the US boiler industry. The result is that Fulton now uses Danfoss’ more environmentally friendly valves and Danfoss has secured a valuable new contract.

Although the switch to Danfoss was on environmental grounds, our support and service provided were key to building a good relationship with the company. Danfoss is now seen as a key supplier and the close working relationship has led to other business opportunities.

As well as The Fulton Companies, other businesses in the US are now finding that Danfoss delivers industry-leading products and expertise, and will leave no stone unturned in its bid to bring value to its customers.
