Danfoss Hosts International Conference for Wholesalers

17 April 2008
How will climate change affect wholesalers in the refrigeration and air-condition industry? Will large, international players start to replace the mid-size family owned wholesale businesses? What will be the future requirements to the suppliers?

30 of the world’s leading refrigeration and air-condition wholesalers debated questions like this at a conference hosted by Danfoss’ Refrigeration and Air-condition division at Sandbjerg Castle, Denmark, on March 18-19.
“The aim was to draw a blue print of the wholesale business in 2018. And to do this, we needed the key players to participate together – even though some of them are actually competitors. I don’t think a conference like this has ever been arranged before,” says Niels Robert Arbjerg, Strategic Marketing Director, Danfoss, Denmark.

Several industry experts gave speeches at the conference, including Andy Campbell, Head of Refrigeration Environment, from Tesco and Philippe Delpech, Responsible for EMEA, from Carrier. Patrice Wacrenier, Marketing & Procurement Director, from Saint-Gobain also participated.

Amongst other things, the participants agreed that European environmental policies will force increased focus on environmentally friendly products and that smaller wholesalers will see increased competition from the large, international players in the industry.
