16th Danfoss EnVisioneering Symposium Focuses on the Practical Future of the Smart Grid and Whole Building Systems Approach

09 September 2011
Event will catapult the discussion of the November 2010 symposium; will precede the 2011 AHRI Annual Meeting
Danfoss, a leading manufacturer of high efficiency electronic and mechanical components for air-conditioning, heating, refrigeration and motion systems, recently announced its next EnVisioneeringSM Symposium, which will be held Friday, 11/11/11 in Bonita Springs, Fla. The event, titled “The Grid, Systems & Buildings: A Glimpse over the Horizon,” will immediately precede the 2011 AHRI Annual Meeting.

This is the 16th event in the EnVisioneering Symposia Series since its launch in August 2006, and will join executives in the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) and related industries to take a realistic look at the potential of the future smart grid as it is applicable and relative to the challenges being faced today amongst U.S. buildings and building systems.

Participants will engage in a roundtable discussion guided by presentations in three central topics:
  • Systems Energy: Running a “Whole Systems” Built Community
  • Business Model & Policy: A Framework for the Future
  • Technologies for a New Grid: A Panel Discussion
The November 11 symposium will catapult the discussion of the 14th EnVisioneering Symposium held the same month in 2010 – “The Smart Grid and Beyond.” After this event, Danfoss commissioned a study – “Industry Research & Report: Smart Grid” – to investigate and gain a better comprehension of building owners’, engineers’ and manufacturers’ opinions and levels of understanding and implementation of the smart grid today. The study highlighted a need for increased communication about smart grid values and financial incentives, as well as concerns about reliability and power quality.
