Danfoss AHR 2009 Innovation and Product of the Year Awards

Danfoss at the 2009 AHR Exposition

This year’s Exposition, the largest trade show in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry saw more than 1900 exhibitors, showing thousands of products. The show is concurrent with the ASHRAE Winter Meeting, and a wide variety of seminars and sessions was presented, too.
Danfoss had a dynamic display in a prominent location, and attracted a fine number of visitors. There was a lot of interest in our Innovation Award-Winning products, and microchannel heat exchangers, new drives with active filtering, new Danfoss-Saginomiya valves and controls, new heating valves, new compressors, and new electronic controls all got plenty of attention.

John Galyen opened the Press Conference with remarks about the Worlds inside Danfoss and around Danfoss, citing the major market trends: Globalization, Energy efficieny, and Environmental concern. He also gave the attending editors and reporters a synopsis of the EnVisioneering Symposia held during 2008, and presaged those coming in 2009.

Among the products featured were the two Innovation Award Winners, the Apexx VSH variable speed scroll compressor for commercial air conditioning with R-410A and the AKD 102 variable frequency drive for supermarket refrigeration. Also prominent were two new additions to the line of Danfoss Turbocor compressors for large chiller applications; EnFusion brazed plate heat exchangers; and microchannel heat exchangers, highly efficient and totally recyclable.

Another new entry among compressor products is the MLZ scroll compressor for refrigeration: efficient, quiet, robust, application focused, and with unmatched reliability.

VLT low harmonic drives appeared at the show for the first time with a Danfoss active filter that reduces current harmonics to less than 5% THiD, and maintains a power factor greater than 98% at all times.

A landmark product from Danfoss Heating is the ABQM valve that solves conventional control valve problems in variable speed pumping systems and combines pressure control with temperature control and enhances system simplicity by eliminating the need for extra balancing valves.

All these new products brought many hundreds of visitors to the Danfoss display to meet with Danfoss people with an eye toward the solutions made possible by EnVisioneering.
