Danfoss opens new factory and sales office in Romania

24 June 2009
Danfoss A/S has completed the construction of new facilities in Romania, which will house a factory for district heating solutions and components as well as a new combined sales office for all of Danfoss’ activities in the Romanian market.
The facilities are located in Popesti-Leordeni in the Southern part of Bucharest with around 6,800 sqm. indoor space on a 40,000 sqm. lot.

The inauguration ceremony takes place today. Among the more than 200 distinguished guests are Danfoss chairman Jørgen M. Clausen – son of the company’s founder Mads Clausen – and his wife Anette Clausen.

The Danfoss Group opened its Romanian sales office in 1996 with an organisation of three employees. Today Danfoss employs more than 140 people in Romania, covering production and sales activities.

The factory will be producing district heating substations and heat exchangers for the Romanian and other East European markets. The Danfoss Group started its production activities in the country in 2006 with the acquisition of Schmidt-Bretten Technology, Romania’s leading producer of district heating stations. Since then Danfoss has continued its investments in Romania in order to increase and modernise production capacity for these stations.

“District heating means higher energy efficiency for society and for end-users and the potential is enormous for modern district heating applications these days, especially in Eastern Europe. The high potential is the rationale behind this important investment,” says Senior Vice President of Danfoss District Heating, Lars Tveen.
