Solenoid valves are used in fuel blocking systems on trucks

Fuel block system makes life hard for truck thieves

16 June 2009
Danfoss solenoid valves have been used in a fuel blocking application that helps combat truck theft since 2006. The system disables the vehicle by stopping fuel flow, and is proving popular in Brazil, where truck and cargo theft is a common problem.

Remote control theft prevention

Ideal for older trucks without fuel injection systems, fuel block systems help combat truck theft via a satellite controlled tracking device. In these vehicle disabling systems, a solenoid valve between the fuel pump and the fuel filter is a key element. If the truck is stolen, the driver makes a call to the system manufacturer. They then send a signal via satellite to the truck, which cuts the electricity to the solenoid valve, stopping the fuel supply. And it’s the Danfoss EV220B solenoid valve that does the job.

The EV220B is a high performance, water-hammer damped solenoid valve that’s available in a broad range of body and sealing materials. It’s also insensitive to dirt and comes in a very compact design. Add to this its cost-efficient performance and wide pressure range, and you get the perfect valve for truck fuel systems.
With a fuel block system installed, trucks can’t be driven. Also, the satellite tracking system helps pinpoint the exact location of the vehicle – good news for truck owners, bad news for truck thieves.
