Danfoss sensors help reduce emissions

Danfoss sensors help construction equipment manufacturer reduce emissions

13 February 2012
From stability controls to emission systems, Danfoss sensors are helping a leading UK construction equipment manufacturer meet the latest emissions regulations.

To meet increasingly tough safety and emission control regulations, construction equipment manufacturers are always fine-tuning their products to improve system performance. For one leading UK construction equipment manufacturer, this means incorporating the most reliable, high quality components available. The company began using Danfoss sensors in its stability systems in 2006, and were pleased with the results. So when the manufacturer needed to update its vehicles to meet the latest emission reduction requirements, it chose Danfoss to supply new temperature and pressure sensors.

Great service and high performance components

The latest Tier 4 emission standards require manufacturers of new
off-highway equipment to reduce emissions levels to 50 to 96 percent below those of existing diesel engines. For off-highway engine manufacturers, this not only involves changes to the engine design, but also the exhaust, gearbox and hydraulic processes.

This UK manufacturer and Danfoss have a great deal in common. Family-owned and engineering-based, the company has a similar legacy and problem-solving attitude. Previously the company had success integrating the high performance MBS 1350 pressure sensor in its stability systems, so Danfoss was top of mind when the company was looking for a reliable supplier of temperature and pressure sensors for emissions control.

Working closely together, Danfoss designed and tested a series of sensors specifically for the manufacturer’s emissions systems – precisely the level of service that the construction equipment manufacturer was looking for in a supplier. The sensors are now set to play a key role in reducing emissions in backhoe loaders, earthmovers, telescopic handlers and other off-highway equipment around the globe.
