Danfoss Drives is number one in South Africa

15 July 2009
Sales in South Africa are growing. In the first quarter of 2009, Danfoss Drives is ranked first among its competitors on the South African drives market based on the turnover figures of the 11 rival companies.

These companies are ABB, CBI (Mitsubishi), CHI Control (Vacon), Integral Systems, PECS (KEB), Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley), Schneider S.A., SEW Drives, Siemens, Varispeed (Yaskawa) and Danfoss Drives.
Every quarter the Drives and Control Association (DAC) in South Africa receives confidential estimates of the net sales of the 11 members of the association. Based on these estimates an independent auditor consolidates and analyses the submitted material, produces a report that reflects the ranking, and finally the report is circulated to the individual members.

In South Africa, Danfoss focuses mainly on water and waste water, particularly desalination and water purification and mining of nickel, copper, iron ore and coal.

The drives sold in South Africa are a mixture of all types, but in the mining industry it is mainly high power drives.
