Danfoss Solar Inverters Prepared to Support Current Release of German Renewable EEG 2012 Energy Law

03 January 2012
Danfoss Solar Inverters today announced its TLX and ULX inverters are in compliance with EEG 2012 standards and guidelines.

The new Firmware for both the ULX and TLX will make it easier to follow the law.

The new CLX grid management product line will make it cost efficient and easier to follow the law. "Whether new system installations or existing ones, our inverters are compliance-ready while meeting the energy demands of our customers. Knowing your system is in compliance means getting the right details on your solar build and we’re here to help,” said Dirk Leinweber, Sales Director at Danfoss Solar Inverters, Germany.

EEG 2012 states that all new PV Systems must participate in Power Management. For Systems less than or equal 30 kWp the system owner has the option to limit feed into the grid to 70 % of the nominal installed PV power” For systems required to retrofit > 30 kWp, Danfoss will introduce the CLX grid management family, available February 2012.

The EEG 2012 energy law: helps the grid handle more renewable energy

  • New systems installed after December 31, 2011 larger than 100 kWp must have remote controllable power (PLA) and the DNO must be able to access information regarding the currently produced power
  • Existing installed systems larger than > 100 kWp must comply with the above before the July 1, 2012 (retrofit)
  • For new systems less than or equal to 100 kWp but larger than 30kWp, remote controlled power (PLA) is a requirement
  • Systems less than or equal to 100 kWp but greater than 30kWp and installed after the 31st of December 2008 must comply with the above before January 1, 2014 (retrofit)

For smaller systems less than or equal to 30 kWp, the user can use a remote controlled power (PLA) or as an alternative use the 70% rule

Solutions from Danfoss

TLX Pro+

  • Current firmware in combination with the Danfoss Grid Management Box already supports remote controlled power (PLA)
  • Support for a “set max power” by installer will be available entered in absolute value or in percent

TLX+

  • The new firmware supports remote controlled power (PLA)
  • New Danfoss CLX Grid Management devices will become available February 2012
  • A new software which supports “set max power” by the installer via the display will be available entered in output power

Solution: PV Systems ≤ 30 kVA
ULX Series ULX 1800, ULX 3000, ULX 3600, ULX 4000, ULX 5400
The Danfoss CLX Grid Management device remotely controlling the power production Alternative enter the required power reduction via the display of the inverter. The inverter regulates down to 70% @ PCC* -> no additional cost
